Solar Cell - PV Module Qualification Testing

The transition from prototype product to full production is a challenge under any circumstances. This is further compounded when simultaneously trying to develop proprietary manufacturing technologies. 

EYE Lighting / Iwasaki has proven experience in working with PV module customers to supply custom qualification test equipment. Regardless of whether you are producing a crystalline product or a thin film product, we can help ensure your production PV modules deliver consistent, reliable results for your customers. As the only integrated supplier (lighting source, electronics, and mechanical systems) of solar simulation test systems, we are unique in our ability to design and develop the solutions best tailored for your specific facility, product, and budget.

To assist you, we have used the IEC standards for terrestrial PV module design qualification and approval to identify the specific solar simulation requirements for various test levels (stages). Please refer to the standard appropriate to your product, IEC 61215 (crystalline) or IEC 61646 (thin film). In both of these flow charts, we have highlighted in yellow the levels (stages) where there is a requirement for solar simulation systems. Selecting, clicking your right mouse button, on any of these highlighted areas will display a brief description of the test parameters along with the required classification of the solar simulation system. 

EYE Lighting / Iwasaki can supply you with anything from a basic portable array that you can incorporate into a structure of your design, to complete production systems with software control. 

 


This unique chamber allows the simultaneous testing of multiple cells under identical environmental conditions to provide more reliable and repeatable comparison data. Irradiation intensity from 1-2Sun can be achieved by simply adjusting the irradiation distance and irradiation output level. This system is compliant to Class CCA.


 

Solar Cell / PV Module Light Soaking Systems

If you are producing PV thin film product, we can supply a system to meet your light soaking requirements.

EYE Lighting / Iwasaki light soaking systems can be customized to your specific application. From continuous production systems to economical standard product chamber systems, to full room, multi-panel soak array systems, we can provide the price/performance you need. The majority of our systems are designed to meet Class CCA requirements per IEC 61646. Because of the wide range of proprietary technology Solarlux™ solar simulation lighting products EYE Lighting / Iwasaki has developed, if you desire a light soaking system with a classification above CCA, please contact us. This "standard" light soaking system is designed to handle four (4) typical PV panels in one batch. This economical ASTM/IEC Class CCA system provides an insolation target area of 2600mm x 1300mm and includes the capability to control the irradiation level from 800W/m2 to 1000W/m2.

Our proprietary technology Solarlux™ solar lighting, along with our extensive experience building large and small chambers, allows us to configure a custom continuous irradiation chamber to meet your solar simulation application requirements up to Class BBA.

PV Cell / Small Module Multi-use Solar Simulator Systems

 

This is a typical example of a small simple open array system.  Although very economical, this system provides an IEC Class B uniformity insolation target area of 250mm x 150mm. It includes the capability to control the irradiation level from 500W/m2 to 1000W/m2.

Our Solarlux™ 150R lamps used in this system deliver exceptional IEC Class B spectral compliance. The system provides overall ASTM/IEC Class BBA performance. A Class BBA rating allows this simulation system to be used for a variety of development and qualification test applications.

These systems are designed specific to your application needs. From small 100mm x 100mm cells to multiple module 3m x 2m arrays, we can configure a system to meet your test and budget requirements.
